Travel Information

Day of Event

Arriving by Shuttle/Uber/Lyft or foot:

  • Please use the address 1220 Holcombe Blvd. Houston TX, MD Anderson Mays Clinic. Have your driver drop you off in the patient entrance. You have been registered as a visitor to the institution. Check in to receive your “Visitor” name tag. You’ll be directed where to go once you’re checked in.

Parking

  • Enter Mays Clinic in your GPS – the address is 1155 Pressler St., but it will take you to the parking garage on Bertner Ave. Photo is attached in the PDF on page 2. For visitors (non-MDA employees),your parking will be validated each day.

Visitor Check-in

  • You have been registered as a visitor for a conference being hosted at our institution. Please enter and check-in to receive a visitor clip on badge. All guests (non-MDA employees) must checkin to receive your visitor’s name tag.

Getting to the Conference Center

  • From check-in, take the escalators to the second floor (you’ll see a giant Tree Sculpture) and follow the wayfinding signs to the Cancer Prevention/Duncan Building (or the giant Star). Take Elevators Q up to the 8th floor. We will have volunteers and employees stationed along the way.

Any transportation issues:

  • If you are lost inside or having trouble finding Mays Clinic or Garage, please call Mehwish at 832-605-5079. You can always ask a UTPD/Security Guard for directions to the CPB8th floor conference center and they will direct you.

We have identified rooming options at nearby hotels in the Texas Medical Center. These options have both a low rate as well as the State/Federal employee Government rate. You may review the available options below; please inquire about their shuttle drop-offs and pick-ups.

Transportation to/from Airports:

Located in Houston, Texas, MD Anderson can be accessed by airplane using two international airports.

George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport

Once you are in any of the above airports, you can secure ground transportation easily by rental car, taxi or shared ride apps (Uber/Lyft). If you wish to use a taxi from the airports to MD Anderson, the following taxis service the airport:

  • United Cab Company
  • Yellow Cab Company

Uber and Lyft are inexpensive and convenient options for local transportation.

Airport

The closest airport to MD Anderson Cancer Center is William P. Hobby Airport through Southwest, Delta and American Airlines. MD Anderson Cancer Center is around 13 miles from William P. Hobby Airport (Get Directions Here).

Vonlane Bus

If you are traveling from Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth or San Antonio, consider using the Vonlane. The closest Houston location drop-off is the Houston-Downtown: Hyatt Regency. It is 6 miles from MD Anderson.

The Eliminate Tobacco Use Summit welcomes a variety of professionals working in higher education, professionals working in tobacco prevention, cessation, and policy, as well as community and non-profit partners whose mission aligns with that of Eliminate Tobacco Use. Summit organizers reserve the right to decline participant registration to any entity not meeting these inclusion criteria.
